IN THE STUDIO
Prints and paintings
Hello,
Welcome to a collection of my work focusing on the subject of The Artist’s Studio.
My first studio was in the basement of my parent’s home when I was 12. Everyone in my immediate family painted. At first I thought everyone, everywhere painted or drew. My earliest memories are of observing my sister working on an oil painting of an elephant. She was about nine and I was about four. At that point in my life I was very into finger-painting.
I have almost always had a studio in my life, a place where I can squirt out a dab of paint and get to work any time of day or night. It is my workplace and it’s an important part of who I am and what I do.
My present studio is on the third floor of my home in Philadelphia that I share with my wife Ellen. The studio is equipped to handle all my painting and etching needs and is there for me to use 24/7.
The group of paintings I’ve assembled in this online portfolio spans many decades. Some depict my early years in New York City and some were made during the decades that I lived in the hills of rural Northeast Connecticut. The most recent works of my latest studio are distinguished by the Victorian architecture that’s evident in many of them.
I hope you enjoy this collection.
